Common questions

What format should my transactions be in?

Paste CSV or TSV with columns date, description, amount (or debit/credit), and optionally category. The first row is treated as a header if it contains any of those words. You can also just paste the contents of a bank-statement CSV — the tool tries to detect columns automatically.

Are these statements GAAP-/IFRS-compliant?

The structure follows standard P&L → Cash Flow → Balance Sheet layout used in both GAAP and IFRS. However, this is a cash-basis tool — no accruals, no depreciation schedule, no deferred tax. Use it for management reporting, lender packs, and education; for audited statements, work with your accountant.

Does the balance sheet balance?

Yes — assets equal liabilities plus equity by construction, given correct opening balances. If you see an imbalance warning, double-check your opening cash, equipment, loans, contributed capital, and retained earnings — those should reflect the position at the start of the period.

Can I export to PDF?

Yes. Click Print / Save as PDF and select PDF as your destination. The print stylesheet renders a clean, paginated set of statements with header, period, and totals — suitable for emailing to a lender or attaching to a board pack.

Will my data leave my browser?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Transactions are not uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any server. Close the tab and the data is gone — print to PDF first if you need to keep it.

Does auto-categorisation work for any country?

Yes. Keywords cover Kenyan, US, UK, EU, South African, and Nigerian terminology: salaries/payroll/wages, KPLC/utilities/internet, IRS/KRA/HMRC/SARS for tax, etc. Anything it doesn't recognise lands in 'Other inflow' or 'Other outflow' and you can recategorise in one click.
