Quote → Economist

A real quote appears. You pick who said it from four plausible names — usually the correct economist alongside three contemporaries or fellow-travellers. Ten rounds. Every answer comes with the context of when the line was said and what it meant.

The pool

50 curated quotes spanning four traditions. A round draws 10 at random, so two plays of the same round rarely overlap much.

How to play

  • Read the quote. Some are iconic; some are deeper cuts. A few are notorious misattributions — read carefully.
  • Pick from four names. Distractors are usually contemporaries or fellow-travellers, so vibes alone won’t save you.
  • Read the “why.” Every answer carries context — when the line appeared and what it meant.

Ready for a round of 10.
