Free Church Finance & Membership Tracker (Excel)

A church's books have to be beyond doubt. This free workbook keeps them that way: record every tithe, offering, project gift and donation, log your expenses, and it shows giving by type, spending by category, the balance, and each member's total giving — all worked out, all transparent.

What's inside

  • Giving by type: tithes, offerings, projects, missions, welfare
  • Anonymous plate offerings still count in the totals
  • Each member's total giving, rolled up automatically
  • Spending by category + running balance
  • Safe to share with the committee — formulas locked

The tabs

  • Start Here (guide)
  • Members
  • Income
  • Expenses
  • Dashboard

Yellow cells only. You type in the yellow cells; the rest are locked formulas. Gridlines are off and it prints clean on A4.

Members roll up their own giving totals. Income is logged by type (tithe, offering, thanksgiving, building, missions, welfare, donation), and plate offerings can be recorded anonymously and still count. Expenses are logged by category. The Dashboard shows total income, total expenses, the balance, and clear breakdowns of where money came from and where it went.

It's built for good governance: the formulas are locked, only the input cells accept typing, and you can share the Google Sheet with the treasurer and finance committee so everyone sees the same honest numbers. Opens in Excel or Google Sheets.

When you need to hand members a giving statement or a receipt, our free document tools produce them cleanly.

Frequently asked questions

Can we record anonymous offerings?

Yes. Leave the member blank on an income row (for a plate offering, say) and it still counts in the totals and in giving-by-type — you only name a member when you want their giving tracked.

Does it show each member's total giving?

Yes. As you log income against members, each member's total giving rolls up automatically on the Members tab — useful for annual statements.

Is it good enough for our AGM accounts?

It gives you clean totals for income by type, expenses by category and the balance, which is the core of a treasurer's report. For formal audited accounts, hand these figures to your accountant.
