Check Your CRB Status & Get a Clearance Certificate in Kenya (2026)
The pain: A loan or job needs a clean CRB record, and “agents” claim they can delete your listing for a fee.
The outcome: You know your true CRB status across all three bureaus, clear a listing correctly, and hold a Clearance Certificate as proof.
Your legal right: one FREE credit report per year from EACH of the three bureaus (Metropol, TransUnion, Creditinfo). Being listed is itself free.

| TransUnion credit report | ~650 |

How to clear a listing
- 1Get your report and identify the lender that listed you.
- 2Pay/settle the outstanding non-performing loan directly with that lender.
- 3The lender updates the bureau. Adverse data stays visible for 5 years but shows as “settled/cleared.”
- 4Once cleared, request a Clearance Certificate from any bureau as proof.
- 5If listed in error, lodge a FREE dispute with the bureau — they must investigate.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Paying “agents” to “delete” a listing — no one can erase legitimate data; settled records still show for 5 years.
- Not using your free annual report and paying unnecessarily.
- Assuming a clearance certificate erases history — it only confirms no current non-performing accounts.
- Settling the loan but not confirming the lender actually updated the bureau.
- Checking only one bureau — lenders may report to a different one.

Questions people ask
Can anyone delete my CRB listing for a fee?
No. A legitimate listing cannot be erased — anyone promising that is a scam. Once you settle the debt, the record simply updates to 'settled/cleared' and remains visible for five years. Only a listing made in error can be removed, via a free dispute with the bureau.
Keep it current: Bureau prices and the clearance-certificate fee are set by the bureaus and change. Confirm the current figure on the bureau's platform before paying.
