CBC Grade Tracker (Excel) for Kenyan teachers

CBC assessment is about competency levels, not just marks. This workbook keeps them tidy: enter your class once, mark each learner 1 to 4 for every learning area, and the sheet works out each learner's average and band (Below, Approaching, Meeting or Exceeding), colour-coded so you can read the class at a glance.

What's inside

  • The four CBC levels as dropdowns: 1 BE, 2 AE, 3 ME, 4 EE
  • Each learner's average and band, computed and colour-coded
  • Class distribution per learning area, with a progress bar
  • A printable per-learner report card with a remarks box
  • Rename the learning areas to fit any grade, PP1 to JSS
  • Formulas locked, works in Excel and Google Sheets

The tabs

  • Start Here (guide)
  • Class List
  • Tracker
  • Class Summary
  • Report Card

Yellow cells only. You type in the yellow cells; the rest are locked formulas. Gridlines are off and it prints clean on A4.

Enter each learner once on the Class List. Their name flows into the Tracker automatically, so you never retype it. Mark 1 to 4 with a dropdown and the average and band appear on their own, with red-to-green colour so strengths and gaps jump out.

The Class Summary shows how the whole class is doing in each learning area: the average, how many learners are at each level, and a simple progress bar. It turns a term of marks into the picture you need for a staff meeting or a parents' evening.

The Report Card tab prints one clean card per learner: pick the learner's number and it pulls their levels, their overall band and a space for your remarks. Everything is locked except the yellow cells, so the maths cannot break, and it opens in Excel or in Google Sheets on your phone.

Frequently asked questions

What are the four CBC performance levels?

Below Expectation (1), Approaching Expectation (2), Meeting Expectation (3) and Exceeding Expectation (4). You mark each learner 1 to 4 per learning area, and the workbook translates the average into the band automatically.

Can I change the learning areas?

Yes. The learning-area headings on the Tracker are editable, so you can set them for any grade, from PP1 and lower primary through to Junior School. Rename them and the Summary and Report Card follow.

Does it make a report card?

Yes. The Report Card tab pulls one learner's levels, overall band and a remarks space onto a clean, printable page. Type the learner's number and print.

Will it work in Google Sheets on my phone?

Yes. Upload the file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. The dropdowns, formulas and colour coding all carry over, so you can mark from your phone.

Is my learners' data private?

Completely. The file lives on your own computer or Drive. Nothing is uploaded to LeadAfrik when you use it.
