What's inside

  • Net worth = total assets − total liabilities, worked out live
  • Categorised assets and debts (M-Pesa, SACCO, land, loans…)
  • Monthly log with an in-cell trend bar
  • Positive net worth shows green, negative red
  • Formulas locked; only the yellow cells accept typing

The tabs

  • Start Here (guide)
  • Assets
  • Liabilities
  • Net Worth Log
  • Dashboard

Yellow cells only. You type in the yellow cells; the rest are locked formulas. Gridlines are off and it prints clean on A4.

On the Assets tab, list what you own — M-Pesa and bank balances, SACCO savings, investments, land, a car, your business — with a value and a category. On the Liabilities tab, list what you owe: bank and SACCO loans, mobile loans, a mortgage, family debts. The Dashboard subtracts one from the other to show your net worth, green when positive.

Each month, add a line to the Net Worth Log with the date and your net worth, and an in-cell trend bar shows whether the number is climbing. That monthly habit — not any single figure — is what builds wealth you can see. Only the yellow cells accept typing; the totals are locked.

To move the number in the right direction, pair it with the free Monthly Budget Planner to spend deliberately and the Loan & Debt Tracker to clear what you owe faster.

Frequently asked questions

What counts towards net worth?

Assets are everything you own with a value — cash and M-Pesa, bank and SACCO balances, investments, land and property, vehicles, a business. Liabilities are everything you owe — bank, SACCO and mobile loans, a mortgage, credit and family debts. Net worth is assets minus liabilities.

How often should I update it?

Once a month is ideal. Add a line to the Net Worth Log with the date and your net worth, and the trend bar shows whether it's rising. The monthly rhythm is what makes the tool useful — one snapshot tells you little; twelve tell a story.

Does it work in Google Sheets?

Yes — upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets, and keep your net worth updated from your phone.
