Apply for Government Jobs in Kenya (Public Service Commission) (2026)

The pain: People miss government jobs on technicalities — or get defrauded by someone charging a “application fee.”

The outcome: A complete PSC profile and a correctly filed PSC.2 application, submitted before the deadline, for free.

PSC never charges any fee for applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointment. All applications are ONLINE only.

Step by step

  1. 1Create an account on psckjobs.go.ke (email + password) and verify your email.
  2. 2Build your profile once — biodata, qualifications, employment history, referees. This becomes your reusable online PSC.2.
  3. 3Browse advertised vacancies and pick roles matching your qualifications and Job Group.
  4. 4Complete the PSC.2: vacancy + reference number, personal details, current terms, qualifications (highest first), employment history (most recent first), duties, two referees, signed declaration.
  5. 5Attach scanned certified copies of ID, academic and professional certificates. Serving officers may need a letter of support.
  6. 6Submit before the deadline (usually 5:00pm on the closing date). Apply early — the portal jams near deadline.
  7. 7Track your status by logging back in.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Paying anyone a “processing” or “application” fee — PSC is always free.
  • Waiting until the closing hour when the portal is congested.
  • Applying without the specific vacancy reference number.

Questions people ask

Does PSC charge a fee to apply for government jobs?

No. The Public Service Commission never charges any fee for applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointment. Anyone asking for a processing or application fee is defrauding you.

What time do PSC job applications close?

The deadline is usually 5:00pm on the closing date stated in the advert. Apply early, because the portal jams near the deadline.

What is the online PSC.2 and do I fill it every time?

Your PSC.2 is the profile you build once on psckjobs.go.ke: your biodata, qualifications, employment history and referees. It is reusable, so you complete it once and then apply against each vacancy's reference number.

Keep it current: Deadlines are per-advert and PSC is always free — read the specific advert on publicservice.go.ke.
