Free Dairy Farm Records (Excel) — milk yield & income per cow

The cow that eats her feed but doesn't fill the can is the one quietly costing you — and you can't spot her without records. This free tracker keeps them: log each milking per cow, and litres, income and yield per cow all work themselves out.

The tabs

  • Start Here (guide)
  • Cows
  • Milk Records
  • Dashboard

Yellow cells only. You type in the yellow cells; the rest are locked formulas. Gridlines are off and it prints clean on A4.

List each cow once on the Cows tab — name or tag, breed, status (milking, dry, in-calf) — and her total litres and milk income roll up. Each day, per cow, enter the morning and evening litres, how much you sold and the price per litre on the Milk Records tab. The day's total and sale value are worked out for you.

The Dashboard shows litres today and this month, milk income this month, and your average litres per milking cow — the yield figure that tells you which cows earn their feed. Set today's date to keep it current. Yellow cells for typing; the rest is locked. Opens in Excel or Google Sheets — record each milking at the shed on your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Why track each cow separately?

Because herd averages hide the problem cow. Average litres per milking cow lets you spot one well below the rest — sick, poorly fed, or near the end of her lactation — and act.

Can I record two milkings a day?

Yes — each row has a morning and an evening column, and the day's total is their sum. Add a row per cow per day.

Does it work in Google Sheets?

Yes — upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets.
